When you want to install a new version of WordPress, the following error message 'Another Update in Process' is being displayed. This happens when you select the update option in your menu and go to the following page:
You will be asked to choose whether you want to allow the new version to install on your system even if you already requested the same update previously.
Why this Error?
The first time that you get an error like this, it is a little difficult to determine what it is. The most common reason for these types of problems is usually because your system is in locked mode. Your WordPress installation enters locked mode when it gets somehow interrupted during the previous update attempt and is locking the database from updating again.
This is a normal mechanism to prevent irreversible damages to your installation and is an easy fix if you ever encounter it
How to Fix this Error?
You need to use the Fix Another Update in Progress Plugin that is fortunately very easy to implement on your WordPress installation. The best part of it, you can remove the plugin as soon as the fix has been implemented!
Time needed: 5 minutes.
- Go to the plugin page
In your WordPress Installation, Navigate to Plugins -> Add New
- Search for the plugin
Look for the 'Fix Another Update in Progress' in the search section
- Install the Plugin
Select the Install Option
- Activate the Plugin
Select the Activate Option
- Navigate to the Plugin Page
In your WordPress Installation, Navigate to Settings -> Fix Another Update In Progress
- Fix the Error
After Fixing you will see the following screen and you will be able to successfully install WordPress Update
This is an easy fix for this error that may appear from time to time in your WordPress installation. And remember that you can always uninstall the plugin as soon as the fix is applied!
